Homolulu Berlin - the guided queer bike tour

Learn about heroes, activists, and role models from the past on the queer bike tour from Homolulu Berlin. The theme of the tour is “Berlin invents homosexuality—queer stories from 1850 to 1935.”

Guests cycle to historic locations in Berlin and learn about queer history, such as the world’s first public outing, the first gay activist group, the first gay and lesbian magazine, the world’s first institute for sexology, and the first gender reassignment surgeries. We learn how the police chief became a supporter of homosexuals and what Friedrich Alfred Krupp had to do with it. We also commemorate the queer victims of Nazi terror and the HIV/AIDS pandemic. But there’s no shortage of fun either, as we dive into the nightlife of the Golden Twenties with Eldorado, Topkeller, Anita Berber, and Christopher Isherwood.

All participants need to bring is a bicycle or scooter. There are several bicycle and scooter providers that can be booked via app. I recommend Callabike “Starter” for €10/day: ⁣Bike rental in Berlin – easy & quick | Call a Bike

The tour lasts about 3 hours and ends in Schöneberg on Motzstrasse.
